| In order to effectively
manage agricultural-type operations, an integrated process is needed. It
is needed for managing all the resources available for revenue-generating activities. In
addition, this process should at least attempt to account for changes and variations in
resource quality and quantity available over a production cycle and from one cycle to the
next. Furthermore, the integrated process should keep in mind the objectives of
achieving the goals of the manager and/or owners of the operation. Planning within this process should proceed from the strategic (long term) to tactical to operational (day-to-day) levels of management. Implementation and control of the operation should feed back from the day-to-day activities through to accomplishing the longer run objectives. Too often in business we get the day-to-day management which is not supported by the longer run strategic and tactical planning, which is required to move from where we are to where we want to go. |
